A vespers of forgiveness will be celebrated in our church in Geelong next Sunday 25th February at 6 pm. This is the start of Great Lent. Why celebrate a vespers of forgiveness? This prayer has roots at the beginnings of Christianity in Ukraine,where monks at the beginning of Lent left their monastery to spend 40 days in cells,in solitary,following the example of Jesus,fasting and fighting temptations. On this last day,they farewelled each other and also forgave each other and asked each other forgiveness for any sins against each other in that year. Let us forgive each other and seek forgiveness for any sins voluntary and involuntary,because only this way we shall be able to celebrate Lent well in close relationship with Jesus. Let us invite everyone to take part in this vespers of forgiveness with prayer in our hearts and on our lips. WE WELCOME YOU ON SUNDAY 26 FEBRUARY 6.00pm
