A great but little known tragedy occurred within the life of the Catholic Church on 20 June 1599, at Udayamperoor in the southern Indian state of Kerala. On that day at the Synod of Diamper, the Archbishop of Goa, Aleixo de Menezes, set in process the Latinisation of the St Thomas Christians. It was, in short, the deliberate and enforced emasculation of the Christian tradition of India, a church tradition that had its roots in the legacy of St Thomas the Apostle.

In today’s world everyone and everything has rights and respect. Whether it is whales, possums or even the Taliban; all except it seems, the Catholic Church. It is still quite acceptable in polite circles to be anti-Catholic and to engage in some old fashioned Catholic bashing......

Bishop Peter Stasiuk flew into Sydney on 10th February 2010 to attend a meeting of the Judges at the New South Wales Catholic Tribunal. There are eleven Catholic Dioceses in NSW and each has a Marriage Tribunal which considers applications from the faithful, including Ukrainian Catholics, for marriage annulments. There are many cases for annulments before the Diocesan courts in Australia.....

Ever since the publication of Confronting Power and Sex in the Catholic Church: Reclaiming the Spirit of Jesus, (2007), the retired Australian Bishop, Geoffrey Robinson has found himself, it seems, lauded by as many as they that would have him censured. Some would claim Bishop Robinson to be the only high ranking cleric with courage enough to candidly say and do what ought to be said and done for the Church; others would describe Bishop Robinson as a retired, disgruntled Churchman with the very real potential, because of his public position, to lead the Faithful well astray....
